Design Brief
Welcome to The Mini-Mini Golf Hole Design Challenge. In this project, you will have the opportunity to apply engineering principles and harness your creative ingenuity to design an engaging mini-mini golf hole. Your task is to follow the Engineering Design Process (EDP) to create a miniature golf hole that will become a part of a larger mini golf course and needs to fit that courses overall theme. Notably, this design endeavor will involve the integration of 3D printing and laser cutting technologies. The golf ball for this golf course is a small glass marble and the putter will be a small 3D printed putter.
Project Goals
Apply the Engineering Design Process (EDP) to conceive and construct an innovative mini golf hole.
Create a mini golf hole that is aesthetically appealing and provides an entertaining gameplay experience that fits the courses theme.
Collaborate effectively within a team to bring your design concept to fruition.
Employ your understanding of engineering principles, mathematics, and physics to underpin your design and demonstrate this through a comprehensive engineering notebook.
Employ 3D printing and laser cutting technologies in the development of select components.
Deliverables
A comprehensive Engineering Notebook that follows the EDP and logs work at least weekly.
Detailed design plans that include at least one assembly and a full top down view of the hole's design.
A fully operational prototype of the mini-mini golf hole, featuring components manufactured via 3D printing and laser cutting.
An engaging and informative presentation elucidating your design process and outcomes to the class.
Constraints & Requirements
Golf ball is a standard glass marble
Overall hole size can not exceed a 4.5 sqft foot print
The height will not exceed 1'
The actual hole for the ball should have no more than a 1" diameter
Must have at least 1 "Trap" that incorporates a 3D printed or laser cut assembly per hole
At least one hole should include an aspect that moves automatically
The hole layout needs to include a curb/bumpers along its outer rim
