74283 4-Bit Adder IC

The 74283 is a high-speed 4-Bit Binary Full Adder with an internal carry lookahead. It accepts two 4-bit binary words (A1–A4, B1–B4) and a Carry Input (C0). It generates the binary Sum outputs and the Carry,.

Pin Description

S2: This pin will output high when there is a 1-bit in the 2nd position of the sum.

B2: This pin accepts a high or low signal from the 2nd position of the second addend.

A2: This pin accepts a high or low signal from the 2nd position of the first addend.

S1: This pin will output high when there is a 1-bit in the 1st position of the sum.

A1: This pin accepts a high or low signal from the 1st position of the first addend.

B1: This pin accepts a high or low signal from the 1st position of the second addend.

C0: This pin accepts a carry bit from a previous adder in the series. This allows for a 5th bit to be added or subtracted.

Ground: This pin is attached to 0V ground.

C4: This is the carry bit of the sum of two sets of 4 bits. If the sum is higher than 1111, the fifth(4) bit becomes 1.

S4: This pin will output high when there is a 1-bit in the 4th position of the sum.

B4: This pin accepts a high or low signal from the 4th position of the second addend.

A4: This pin accepts a high or low signal from the 4th position of the first addend.

S3: This pin will output high when there is a 1-bit in the 3rd position of the sum.

A3: This pin accepts a high or low signal from the 3rd position of the first addend.

B3: This pin accepts a high or low signal from the 3rd position of the second addend.

Vin: This pin is connected to voltage power. The supply voltage is between 4.5 and 5.5 volts.
