This is a quick guide on how to turn your signature into a digital file in photoshop that you can drop onto anything. You even will be able to change the color of the digital signature and can export it in a variety of different file types including .png with a transparent background.
On a piece of paper in pen sign your name multiple times. Keep writing your name until you wrote one you like then write your name 2 more times just to make sure. Try to leave space around each signature so that you will be able to isolate the one you like.
Once you wrote a signature you like and want to move forward with it, take a picture of it with your phone. Get the picture so that you can open it on the computer.
Open your picture in photoshop and make sure it is in an unlocked layer.
Crop the image to only be the signature and go to the channels tab.
Turn off the blue and green channel b/c red has the greatest contrast with the white background. Open Image > Adjustments > Curves.
While holding Alt (Option on Mac) drag the slider on the right until the artifacts are no longer visible. While holding Alt, drag the left slider until you begin to see your signature. Click Okay.
CTRL click on the red channel thumbnail to select the white around your signature. Press CTRL + SHIFT + I to invert your selection to select your signature.
Go to the layers tab and turn off the visibility of your layer.
Create a new solid fill and choose what color you want your signature to be. Once you select a color you can save the file as a .png and can place it on anything with a transparent background.
